On 8 March 2016, Lorna McGregor participated in a side event at the 31st Session of the UN Human Rights Council on ‘The Right to Privacy in the Digital Age: Challenges and Ways Forward’, which aimed to discuss strategies and avenues to further advance the right to privacy in the digital age.

The panel addressed how the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly could tackle the challenges related to the realisation of the right to privacy in the digital age, noting achievements to date and concrete ways forward within the United Nations human rights framework. The public also had the opportunity to exchange with the newly appointed Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy on his first report.
