On 24 February 2018, the 10th Enquire conference took place on ‘Identity, Belonging and Activism in the 21st Century’, organised by the University of Nottingham School of Sociology and Social Policy. Vivian Ng presented a paper on ‘Identity in the Digital Age’, along with fellow presenters from the University of Birmingham and the University of Leicester. Her presentation discussed how organisation and mobilisation has changed as a result of the digital age, how that bears on the capacity of individuals and groups to exercise their rights to freedom of opinion and expression, assembly, and association, and how that contributes or impedes the development of identity.
