On 25 – 26 April 2017, Peter Fussey gave a presentation on ‘Digital Data, Ethics and Rights’ to urban planners in Kerala, regional politicians and members of the Indian civil service as part of the Kerala Urban Observatory workshop in Kochi, India. This presentation drew on the HRBDT Project’s research on human rights issues in relation to data proliferation and smart cities.

The Urban Observatory was hosted by the UK-India Joint Network on Sustainable Cities and Urbanization in India/Smart Cities Network for Sustainable Urban Futures (SMARTIES Net). The event took place in connection to the Smart Cities Mission of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, which aims to develop an urban eco-system, taking into account institutional, physical, social and economic infrastructure.
